Perinatal Ethics Webinar 2024
Inviting you to a Webinar on the ethical implications of changing/modifying counselling and medical management based on the social circumstances in complex pregnancies and for neonates on Thursday the 17th of October.
The counselling of parents and the medical managements offered is always tailored, and we often do it without being aware or having explored the moral and ethical implications of doing so. Even though one is justified stating that ‘clinical’ criteria is what management is based on, one is inadvertently incorporating conscious and unconscious biases based on social circumstances.
Dr Anthony Herbert Director of Paediatric Palliative Care QCH Brisbane, will bring a real case scenario for discussion which will be moderated by Prof Lynn Gillam Bioethicist, Childrens Bioethics Centre, RCH Melbourne.
We currently have Prof Kathleen Baird, Head of School of Nursing and Faculty of Health UT Sydney and Prof David Kirchhoffer Bioethicist – Director Queensland Bioethics Centre ACU, Brisbane as Panellist and awaiting confirmation from one more panellist.
Opportunity for participants to ask questions and interact with the facilitator and the panellist will be made possible through the chat box. A nominal registration fee will allow access to live session and to the recording of the session.
