Perinatal Substance Use - PSU
The Perinatal Substance Use SIG has been established to maintain liason with international bodies, advance members' knowledge in managing perinatal substance use, promote research and data collection in the field and provide advice on matters pertaining PSU.
The goal of this national special interest group is to establish and maintain a forum of stakeholders in perinatal substance use, with activities which:
- Maintain liaison with international bodies in perinatal substance use through the promotion of this interest forum.
- Examine the feasibility of establishing clinical indicators and /or national database for benchmarking purposes
- Advance members’ knowledge and skills in managing perinatal substance use
- Examine the feasibility of establishing clinical indicators and /or national database for benchmarking purposes
- Promote research and data collection in perinatal substance use
- Explore best practice models of care for perinatal substance use and neonatal abstinence syndrome that are sensitive and flexible to regional, cultural and community differences
- Provide expert advice to government and other bodies on matters pertaining to perinatal substance use
